Church Announces Funeral Rites Beginning October 21
The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Uyo, has formally announced the passing of its spiritual leader, the Rt. Rev’d Owen Amos Ukafia, Bishop of Uyo Diocese. Bishop Ukafia was called to glory recently, marking the end of a devoted and impactful ecclesiastical journey.
With deep submission to the will of God, the Diocese mourns the loss of a revered shepherd whose leadership, humility, and service touched countless lives within and beyond the Anglican Communion.
In a statement released by the Media and Communication Directorate of the Diocese, the church outlined the schedule of obsequies to honour the late bishop:
Monday, 21st October, Youth novelty football match at St. Brian College, Brooks Street, at 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, 22nd October, Archdeaconry-based services of songs across the Diocese at 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, 23rd October – Diocesan service of songs at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Uyo, at 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, 24th October – Funeral service at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Uyo, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (Note: This date assumes the funeral follows the service of songs. Please confirm the correct date if different.)
Bishop Ukafia is survived by his mother, beloved wife, children, siblings, and extended family, including the larger church family who now mourn his departure but celebrate his legacy.
The Diocese calls on the faithful to join in prayer and thanksgiving for the life of a man who served God and humanity with unwavering dedication.
May his soul rest in peace in the bosom of our Lord.
