The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has introduced self-service fuel pumps at selected filling stations, allowing motorists to purchase and dispense petrol with minimal assistance from station attendants.

The initiative is being implemented through the NRL Fuel App, which enables customers to initiate fuel purchases, make payments and operate designated self-service pumps using their mobile devices.

To use the service, motorists are required to download the NRL Fuel App, register and select the participating NNPC station where they intend to buy fuel. After choosing the desired quantity or amount, customers can make payment through the available options on the application.

Following successful payment, the customer can proceed to the designated self-service pump, follow the instructions displayed on the pump or app, and dispense the purchased petrol directly into the vehicle’s fuel tank.

The self-service system is expected to provide motorists with greater convenience and speed while reducing waiting time at participating stations. However, the service is currently limited to selected NNPC stations, meaning motorists should confirm that a station supports the facility before relying on the self-service option.
