CSP Nwawe Backs Solomon Okpo’s 70th Birthday Celebration

The Planning Committee for the 70th birthday celebration and 40 years of distinguished journalistic practice of veteran journalist, Comrade Solomon Okpo, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr. Mohammed Azare, at the Force Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo.

The visit was aimed at formally briefing the Police Commissioner on the forthcoming celebration scheduled for June 18, 2026, in honour of the respected media practitioner whose four decades in journalism have left a significant imprint on the profession and society.

A memorable highlight of the visit was the unexpected reunion with former Police Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Command, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Cordelia Nwawe, who was present at the headquarters.

Speaking during the meeting, CSP Nwawe congratulated Comrade Okpo on the milestone achievements and pledged her support for the celebration. She also assured the committee of her participation in the event, describing the occasion as a fitting recognition of a journalist who has contributed immensely to the growth of the media industry and public enlightenment.

The celebration is expected to attract journalists, media executives, public officials, friends, family members, and well-wishers from across the country to honour Comrade Okpo’s remarkable journey in journalism and his contributions to national development.
