S’Court Judgments Settle 76 Oil Well Ownership, Says A’Ibom Governor

By Solomon OKPO

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has declared that the state’s ownership of 76 oil wells is legally settled and not subject to dispute.

The governor stated that two subsisting judgments of the Supreme Court firmly affirmed Akwa Ibom’s rights over the oil wells, dismissing renewed claims by neighbouring Cross River State as unfounded. According to him, the apex court’s decisions remain final and binding, leaving no room for further controversy on the matter.

Governor Eno urged the public to disregard reports suggesting a fresh dispute, describing such narratives as misleading and capable of generating unnecessary tension between the two states.

He reiterated his administration’s resolve to safeguard Akwa Ibom’s economic interests while sustaining peaceful inter-state relations.
