President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament held in Morocco, describing the achievement as a source of inspiration to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
In a congratulatory message issued on his behalf and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio commended the national team for their resilience, discipline and exemplary performance, particularly in their third-place match against Egypt.
Speaking on behalf of his family, constituents and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Senate President praised the Super Eagles for demonstrating exceptional skill and determination against the Pharaohs of Egypt, noting that the encounter reflected the depth of talent within Nigerian football.
According to Akpabio, the team’s victory underscored the resilience and competitive spirit for which Nigeria is globally recognised, adding that the nation remains proud of the players for representing the country with honour on the continental stage.
He urged the players to celebrate the achievement while using it as a springboard for greater success in future competitions, stressing that the bronze medal should serve as motivation to aim higher.
“The achievement of the Super Eagles is a source of inspiration to millions of Nigerians,” Akpabio stated, expressing optimism that the team’s performance would ignite renewed confidence and ambition among young Nigerians pursuing excellence in sports and other endeavours.
The Senate President concluded by reiterating his congratulations to the team, encouraging them to remain focused, disciplined and committed as they continue to fly the nation’s flag in international competitions.
