Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has issued a firm warning to individuals and groups attempting to frustrate the execution of the Coastal Highway Project, declaring that no amount of opposition would derail the project’s completion.
The Governor gave the warning on Monday, December 29, 2025, during the commissioning of a Model Primary Health Centre in Ndue Eduo, Eket Local Government Area. The facility is a flagship intervention under his ARISE Agenda, aimed at strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery across the state.
Speaking bluntly at the event, Governor Eno stressed that development would not be sacrificed on the altar of confrontation or legal grandstanding. He cautioned against the issuance of what he described as “contemptuous caveat emptors” while land matters were already before the courts, insisting that dialogue and negotiation, not obstruction, were the acceptable pathways to resolution.
“Nobody will stop the Coastal Highway project in this state. We will bulldoze the creek if necessary,” the Governor declared. “I have the love of the Eket people, but I am Governor of the entire Akwa Ibom State. Being confrontational does not bring development. Let us negotiate, let us discuss, but you cannot stop progress.”
Governor Eno reaffirmed that his primary responsibility was to deliver projects that tangibly improve the lives of the people, urging contractors handling government projects to adhere strictly to timelines and quality standards.
The newly commissioned health centre boasts modern medical facilities, a solar-powered laboratory, a well-stocked pharmacy and staff accommodation.
It is expected to significantly improve access to quality primary healthcare for residents of Eket and neighbouring communities.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem John, described the facility as a major milestone in the state’s drive to reposition rural healthcare, noting that it aligns with the administration’s broader agenda of people-centred development.
Also speaking, Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Hon. Akaninyene Tommy, and a prominent indigene, Barrister Assam Assam, SAN, commended Governor Eno for his developmental foresight and pledged sustained support for the continuity of his programmes and policies.
The commissioning ceremony attracted members of the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, as well as youth and women leaders, underscoring widespread support for the administration’s infrastructure and healthcare initiatives.
Governor Eno’s unequivocal stance on the Coastal Highway Project reinforces his resolve to drive uninterrupted development and economic growth across Akwa Ibom State, regardless of resistance.
