Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commiserated with Dr. David Lawrence, Honourary Special Adviser on Trade and Investment and former Member representing Eket State Constituency, following the death of his mother, Rev. (Dr.) Umoh Lawrence Udofa, who passed away at the age of 87.
The funeral service, held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Dr. Udofa Memorial A.M.E Zion Church, Park Road, Eket, drew family members, friends, and dignitaries who gathered to honour the late matriarch.
Representing the Governor, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong, delivered a heartfelt condolence message, expressing Governor Eno’s deep grief over the loss. The Governor described the late Rev. (Dr.) Udofa as a devout Christian whose life of service, compassion, and moral strength left a lasting impact on her family, church, and community.

“I received with deep sorrow the news of the passage of your beloved mother, Dr. Umoh Lawrence Udofa. The passing of a loved one evokes deep sadness, grief and emotional trauma. We feel your pain in this moment of bereavement,” the Governor stated.
He encouraged the Lawrence family to find comfort in the knowledge that their mother lived a fulfilled and impactful life, characterized by unwavering faith, kindness, and devotion to humanity. Governor Eno further noted that her passing was a loss not only to her immediate family but also to all whose lives she touched.
Until her passing, Rev. (Dr.) Udofa was known as a committed Christian, gospel bearer, and philanthropist.

The ceremony was attended by eminent personalities, including former Minister Rt. Hon. Chief Nduese Essien; Executive Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Mkpisong Akaniyene Tommey Ikott; Dr. Nsidibe Akata, Member representing Eket State Constituency; Elder Paul Bassey, Commissioner for Sports; Pastor Godwin Ukwat, Senior Special Assistant on Agric-Business; Hon. Nse Essien, PhD; and Dr. Samuel Udonsak, President of Ekid People’s Union.
Also present were Hon. Ebiere Etukudo, Dr. Essien Ndueso, Mr. Mfon Bassey, Hon. and Mrs. Samuel Bob, among other notable stakeholders who gathered to pay their last respects.
