Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has ordered an immediate ban on masquerades parading the streets, following a rise in complaints of harassment and intimidation from residents. The directive, issued on Monday, is intended to restore public order and safeguard citizens as the festive period approaches.
Alongside the security-focused measure, the Governor also instructed all contractors handling state projects to return to their construction sites without delay. He urged them to maximize the dry season to accelerate work and ensure timely delivery of key infrastructure.
To further uplift the festive spirit, Governor Eno approved the early release of the 13th-month salary, popularly known as “Eno-mber”, directing the Accountant General to ensure payment on or before December 20, 2025. He also announced that Christmas rice would be distributed to every village in the state, with additional provisions made for this year’s Christmas homecoming activities.
Governor Eno stated that these steps underscore his administration’s commitment to community safety, improved welfare, and sustained infrastructural development across Akwa Ibom State.
