Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced that all failed portions of roads across the state have been fully assessed and scheduled for immediate repairs once the rainy season ends.
The governor made the disclosure on Sunday after a special service at the All Nations Christian Ministry International, Eket, where he addressed members of the State Executive Council, senior citizens, clerics, political leaders, industry stakeholders, and congregants who joined him for worship.
Governor Eno said his administration had completed a comprehensive statewide review of damaged roads and developed a structured response plan to ensure prompt intervention as soon as weather conditions improve. He assured residents, particularly those in Uyo and other urban centres, that the current inconvenience caused by deteriorating road conditions would soon give way to extensive restoration work.
In addition, the governor unveiled plans to install solar-powered streetlights across major roads and communities within the Uyo metropolis. According to him, the initiative is aimed at improving security, supporting night-time commerce, and enhancing the state’s growing reputation as a tourism and investment destination.
Governor Eno also used the occasion to call on government appointees, contractors, and political stakeholders to ensure governance touches the grassroots. He noted that the recent statewide ward meetings of the All Progressives Congress had offered a valuable opportunity for direct citizen engagement, adding that a similar exercise would be held in December to deepen community participation and trust in government.
The service, which featured lively praise and worship, concluded with a sermon titled “God Sees,” delivered by the ministry’s Spiritual Leader from Genesis 21:12. The cleric encouraged believers to rely on God’s timing and remain steadfast in the assurance that divine help never comes late.
