In a landmark gesture of unity and appreciation, Cross River State Governor, Bassey Edet Otu, will on November 30, 2025, host a special ceremony to honor all former governors of the state. The event, slated as part of the “Season of Sweetness” and the buildup to Calabar Festival 2025, underscores the administration’s commitment to gratitude, continuity, and collective progress.
Those to be honored include:
H.E. Dr. Clement Ebri
H.E. Mr. Donald Duke
H.E. Sen. Liyel Imoke
H.E. Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade
Governor Otu said the event is designed to acknowledge the unique contributions each leader has made to the state’s political, economic, and cultural development. From pioneering reforms to expanding infrastructure and strengthening institutions, the former governors, he noted, “have each written a distinct chapter in Cross River’s story of courage, growth, and vision.”
According to the governor, their cumulative legacies form the solid foundation upon which his administration continues to build a brighter, more prosperous future for citizens.
The ceremony is expected to draw dignitaries, traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents, serving as a symbolic reminder that governance is a continuum one strengthened by mutual respect and shared purpose.
