CALABAR, In a significant breakthrough for regional security, all kidnapping victims abducted along the Oron-Calabar waterways have been safely rescued in a coordinated operation involving multiple security agencies. The announcement came through an official statement from Navy Commander (Ambassador) Patrick Bassey Odiong (Rtd.), the State Security Adviser to the Governor for the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State.
Commander Odiong praised the “collaborative efforts of all security agencies and stakeholders,” describing the success as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the state’s security apparatus to protect its citizens.
He extended heartfelt gratitude to Governor Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Otu, whose leadership and support, he said, have been critical in bolstering the state’s internal security framework. “His Excellency’s steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of our citizens has been a beacon of hope and inspiration,” Odiong stated.
Highlighting the broader vision of the administration, Odiong noted that Governor Otu is working to strengthen community resilience and develop a thriving maritime economy, positioning Cross River State as a strategic hub within the Gulf of Guinea and across West and Southern Africa.
The statement also commended the internal security outfit operating in the Southern Senatorial District for its synergy with his office and other security agencies. Their “dedication and commitment to duty,” he emphasized, played a vital role in the rescue operation.
The office urged continued public vigilance and called on citizens to report any suspicious activity to security authorities as efforts to secure the state’s waterways and coastal communities intensify.
