UYO, A one-hour flight aboard Ibom Air from the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, to Abuja on Wednesday underscored the efficiency and reliability of the state-owned carrier. However, the seamless experience in the air was quickly contrasted by a grueling four-hour journey on Abuja’s roads from the airport to Destination Hotel, Wuse.
The trip is part of preparations for the upcoming three-day Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) Summit, billed to commence on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Lake Greenfield Hotel & Tower, Kado District, Abuja.
The summit, scheduled to run through September 27, is expected to attract key stakeholders, policymakers, security experts, and development partners to deliberate on strategies for tackling violent extremism and strengthening national security.
Delegates arriving in the Federal Capital Territory are already pointing to the poor state of traffic management and road congestion as a major hindrance to movement within the city, in sharp contrast to the ease of regional air travel.
The PCVE Summit is anticipated to set the tone for renewed multi-sector collaboration against violent extremism in Nigeria.
