The Akwa Ibom State Government has declared that the monthly statewide environmental sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, August 30, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, the government announced that there would be full restriction of movement of persons and vehicles during the exercise, except for those on essential duties of public interest.
The directive, according to the statement, is aimed at ensuring maximum participation by residents and sustaining Akwa Ibom’s reputation as Nigeria’s cleanest state. It will also create an enabling environment for sanitation agencies and personnel to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
The government further called on community leaders, stakeholders, and residents to mobilize their communities for active involvement in the exercise, in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency.
