Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has officially flagged off the All Progressives Congress (APC) membership revalidation and registration exercise in the state, as he revalidated his membership at Ibiakpan Obotim Ward II, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
The Governor, who received the registration number 001 in the party’s register, urged party faithful and prospective members to participate actively in the exercise at their respective wards.
“This exercise has become necessary to validate and revalidate the authentic members of our great party,” Governor Eno declared. “All members and intending members must get registered at their wards to prove their true membership and loyalty to the APC.”
He explained that the revalidation and registration exercise would last for one month, after which a new membership register would be adopted as the official working document of the party.
The Governor emphasized that members and supporters who joined him in aligning with the APC must ensure their registration to demonstrate their commitment to the party’s progressive agenda.
Speaking with Government House correspondents shortly after completing his registration, Eno expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, describing his decision to join the APC as a strategic political alignment.
“I feel good to join the Party. It is a deliberate calculation and a strategic move to link us to the centre in the interest of our state,” he said. “This is to show our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his efforts to transform Nigeria’s economy, and also to stand with our son, the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio, as he continues to provide sterling leadership at the National Assembly.”
The Governor urged Akwa Ibom people to remain united, stressing that unity and collective purpose remain essential for progress.
“As no one can break a bunch of broom, which is our Party’s symbol, let us remain one in unity, growth, and greatness as a people of common ancestry. No one should divide us or set us against one another,” he charged.
The revalidation and registration exercise at Ibiakpan Obotim Ward II drew a large turnout of enthusiastic members and prospective members, reflecting renewed energy within the party in the state.
