Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has appointed Senator Ekong Sampson as Chairman of a Committee to resolve political leadership tussles in the Local Government Areas across the state.

The Governor made the announcement on Friday during his maiden visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Secretariat on Ekpo Obot Street, Uyo.

Governor Eno explained that the committee’s mandate is to review and reconcile lingering leadership issues in various local government areas and recommend credible grassroots leaders who can convene meetings, strengthen internal cohesion, and provide direction for the party.

He said the initiative is part of efforts to streamline the party’s grassroots structure, deepen governance, and promote inclusivity in the political process.

Senator Sampson, popularly known as Onomkpoinam Mkpat Enin and respected as a political leader in his own right, is expected to work in close consultation with the Governor in delivering on the assignment.

The Governor assured stakeholders that his administration is committed to sustaining political stability at the local level, describing effective leadership at the grassroots as vital to the state’s democratic development.
