In a bold reaffirmation of his commitment to youth empowerment and global skill development, the Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, Rep. Unyime Idem, has dispatched the 14th batch of Akwa Ibom youths to China for advanced technical training.
The six beneficiaries:—Patience Saturday Joshua, Iniodu Hezekiah Ekanem, Ifiok Sunday Ituen, Emediong Godwin Joseph, Clayton Donatus Eyenaka, and Uforo Innocent Idiongette, are set to undergo an all-expense-paid training in Internet of Things (IoT) Technology and Application as well as Wind Power Technology, key components of the global energy and digital innovation economy.
At a brief send-forth ceremony held in Abuja, Rep. Idem described the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria at large. He emphasized that in today’s interconnected world, only individuals equipped with relevant knowledge and international exposure can remain competitive and self-reliant.
“The world is now a global village. Exposure to modern technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Wherever you find yourself in the world, you must be able to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with your peers,” the lawmaker said.
The initiative is part of Rep. Idem’s broader vision to train at least 100 Akwa Ibom youths in globally relevant fields, a pledge he has been fulfilling in phases since the inception of his representation. According to him, each training cycle is designed to empower participants not only with technical know-how but also with international certification and cultural exposure.
“What has helped me succeed is the quality of training and exposure I’ve received globally. My desire is for each of you to do even better than I have done.”
In his official letter titled “Nomination and Sponsorship to Training in China”, Rep. Idem informed the trainees of their entitlements, including travel allowances, while urging them to be good ambassadors of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria throughout the duration of their stay.
“This experience will place you on a pedestal to compete favourably across borders,” the letter read in part. “I wish you a safe stay and journey mercies to and from China. Congratulations.”
Rep. Idem’s initiative continues to draw accolades from constituents and stakeholders alike, as a pragmatic model for youth development and international collaboration.
