Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has lauded the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) for its unwavering support of his administration and its decades-long advocacy for morality, accountability, and social justice in governance.
Speaking at the PFN National Executive Retreat held in Uyo on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Governor Eno described the Fellowship as a moral compass for the nation, consistently guiding leadership with spiritual wisdom and unwavering truth.
“We commend PFN for being a strong platform for inserting morality within the corridors of power,” the Governor said. “Your commitment to truth, accountability, and concern for the poor has helped shape governance positively.”
Held under the theme “PFN Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow,” the retreat brought together prominent church leaders from across the country to reflect on the organization’s journey and its evolving role in national development.
Governor Eno, himself a member of PFN, praised the Fellowship’s influence over the past forty years, saying it has remained a fertile ground for spiritual renewal, societal redemption, and leadership guidance. He urged PFN to continue its constructive engagements with government in a spirit of love, civility, and humility.
He drew a profound distinction between the prophetic ministries of John the Baptist and Nathan, stating, “PFN has always chosen the path of Nathan—rebuking with wisdom and love, not condemnation. This approach has opened doors for leadership to truly listen and respond.”
Underscoring the importance of political engagement by the clergy, Governor Eno challenged spiritual leaders to step into governance roles to effect real change from within, rather than merely criticizing from the sidelines.
“It is not enough to label politics as dirty,” he said. “If people of conscience and morality do not participate, we leave the system to deteriorate. The more we get involved, the more we can clean the murky waters of politics.”
Earlier, PFN National President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, expressed gratitude to Governor Eno for his hospitality and spiritual leadership, offering prayers for divine wisdom and grace as he pilots the affairs of the State.
The PFN National Vice President (South-South), Archbishop Emmah Isong, also praised the Governor’s humility, generosity, and inclusive leadership, noting that his presence at the retreat speaks volumes about his commitment to godly governance.
The event reached its spiritual crescendo with prayers for the Governor and Akwa Ibom State, led by PFN patriarch and host, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai.
