Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has joined family and well-wishers to celebrate the centenary birthday of Lady Martina Bassey Edet, a retired teacher and revered matriarch.
The Governor visited Lady Edet at her residence in Uyo to personally extend his congratulations and share in the joy of her milestone. He described her longevity as a remarkable blessing to the State and emphasized the importance of honoring elders who have lived exemplary lives.

“It is a rare privilege to celebrate 100 years of life. I lost my grandmother at 97 while preparing to mark her centenary. So having Mama Edet with us is a reason for thanksgiving,” the Governor remarked.
Governor Eno prayed for the celebrant’s continued good health and asked for her prayers for the peace and unity of Akwa Ibom State.

In her response, Lady Edet expressed deep gratitude for the Governor’s visit, calling it a great honor to receive him and his entourage on her special day.
A proud daughter of Obong Okon Udo Ndok of Nung Ekpene Etuk in Eman Ikot Eno, Uruan Local Government Area, Lady Martina Bassey Edet made her mark as an educator, teaching in several schools including Christ the King School (CKS), Uyo, where she retired in 1988. She is blessed with nine children.
