Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been recognized as Nigeria’s Football-Friendly Governor of the Year 2024, further cementing his administration’s commitment to sports development. The prestigious honor was presented to him at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo, on Wednesday, March 26, by the Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Paul Bassey.
Adding to the state’s sporting achievements, the renowned Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, has been named Best Pitch of the Year for its exceptional quality, standard, and maintenance. The stadium outperformed competitors, including the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Lagos and the Remo Stars Stadium in Ogun State, to clinch the top position.
Governor Umo Eno’s recognition highlights his administration’s efforts to promote football and improve sports infrastructure in Akwa Ibom, reinforcing the state’s status as a prime destination for national and international sporting events.
