Amid growing concerns over renewed efforts by the Cross River State Government to reclaim the 76 oil wells ceded to Akwa Ibom in 2012, Governor Umo Eno has assured the people that the situation remains under control.
Speaking at the March edition of the Government House Monthly Prayer Service, Governor Eno reaffirmed that the Supreme Court had twice ruled in favor of Akwa Ibom, settling the dispute. He urged citizens to remain calm, trust in God, and avoid unnecessary agitation, as the matter had already been legally resolved.
The governor emphasized the need for unity and respect for leadership, cautioning against unwarranted criticism that could discourage those in positions of authority. He reiterated his commitment to peaceful governance and called on Akwa Ibom people to support their leaders rather than undermine them.
On the ongoing town hall meetings across the state, Governor Eno announced that Oron Federal Constituency would host the next session, following the successful engagement in Abak. He encouraged residents to actively participate and take advantage of the state’s procurement portal to contribute to Akwa Ibom’s development.
The prayer service also featured a sermon by Pastor Dr. Bolaji AdeIsrael of Beautiful Gate Family Church, Eket, who spoke on “The Battle Belongs to the Lord.” He urged believers to remain steadfast in faith, reminding them that God ultimately determines the outcome of life’s challenges.
The event concluded with prayers, worship, and supplications for peace and progress in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
