Uyo, March 7, 2025 – The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community engagement and enhancing security across the state. This pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the Core Community Elders Forum to the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, at the Command Headquarters in Uyo.
Led by its Chairman, Akpanubong Jehovah Isaac Akpan, the delegation comprised elders from Eket, Onna, Esit Eket, Ibeno, Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin, Eastern Obolo, and Mbo Local Government Areas. Their visit aimed to formally introduce the Forum and establish a collaborative relationship with the Police Command to promote peace and development in their respective communities.
Speaking during the meeting, the Forum’s Vice Chairman, Chief Engr. Christopher Tom, assured the Commissioner of their commitment to fostering peace, unity, and cooperation among the eight local government areas. He emphasized their willingness to work closely with security agencies in maintaining law and order while supporting socio-economic growth.
In response, CP Azare commended the Forum for its proactive approach to community engagement and peacebuilding. He reiterated the Police Command’s dedication to strengthening community policing and working hand-in-hand with local stakeholders to enhance security. The Commissioner assured the elders of continuous support in addressing security challenges and urged them to encourage law-abiding behavior within their communities.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local community leaders in ensuring a safer and more secure Akwa Ibom State.
