NRC Warns Passengers Against Fake Online Train Ticket Vendors

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has cautioned passengers to beware of fraudulent online platforms posing as official ticket vendors for train services across the country.

In a statement issued by its Chief Public Relations Officer, Mr. Callistus Unyimadu, the corporation disclosed that the syndicates behind the fake sites deceive unsuspecting travellers by requesting payments into personal bank accounts under the pretext of selling train tickets.

“The NRC wishes to categorically state that these platforms are not affiliated with the Corporation, and any payment made through such channels is done at the victim’s risk,” Unyimadu stated.

He emphasised that tickets can only be purchased through NRC’s verified channels, warning passengers to avoid unverified vendors. “Passengers are strongly advised to desist from engaging with these fraudulent sites and must not, under any circumstances, pay into personal or unverified accounts for train bookings,” he said.

According to the corporation, the only authorised online booking portals for train services are:

Warri-Itakpe Train Service (WITS): https://nrc-fane.ng

Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS): https://nrc.tps.ng

Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS): https://nrc.gsds.ng

The NRC advised passengers to verify the authenticity of booking sites via its official website, www.nrc.gov.ng or through its customer service centres.

Reassuring the public of its commitment to safe and reliable service delivery, the corporation disclosed that it is working closely with security agencies to track and prosecute perpetrators of the online scams.
