Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has restated his commitment to an all-inclusive leadership, assuring citizens that his administration remains focused on the collective development of the state, irrespective of political differences.
Speaking at the July edition of the Government House Covenant Service held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, Governor Eno emphasized that though he came into office on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), his duty is to serve all Akwa Ibom people.
“I am the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, not a political faction,” Eno declared, warmly acknowledging the presence of party chairmen from across the political divide, whom he collectively addressed as “Chairman of our party.”
The Governor thanked residents for the peaceful transition during his move to the APC, commending the maturity and unity demonstrated across the State. “We have moved past politics; now it’s time for governance. Work has started again,” he stated.
He announced that his administration will flag off new road construction projects starting Tuesday and will commission several completed ones within the month. In addition, he revealed plans for a large-scale women empowerment initiative.
“The Office of the First Lady will begin a state-wide sensitization of women in all 31 Local Government Areas. Working with the wives of LG Chairmen, we will reach out to women through seminars and co-operatives that transcend party lines,” he said.
Governor Eno further disclosed the impending commissioning of 60 Nigeria-for-Women projects co-funded by the World Bank and the State Government. The projects, he said, are strategically spread across all local councils to enhance grassroots development.
Expressing appreciation for the political harmony in the State, he urged all parties to continue working together for the advancement of Akwa Ibom. “We are stronger together. Let’s build the State for future generations,” he added.
The interdenominational service, themed “And the Shout of the King is Among Them” (Numbers 23:21), featured a sermon by Bishop Dr. Josephine Eggah of New Birth Bible Church, who emphasized the spiritual authority and positive impact of righteous leadership.
In his closing remarks, Most Rev. Joseph Ekuwem, Chairman of the State Christian Leadership Advisory Council, called on citizens to rally behind the Governor’s vision, noting that unity, faith, and collective support are vital for the State’s prosperity.
The service was attended by top government officials, clergy, political leaders, and Christian faithful, with inspirational worship, choir performances, and fervent prayers offered for peace, wisdom, and continued development in Akwa Ibom State.
