Eket, The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Eket Division, has honoured Lady Veronica Ini Inyang, popularly known as Ma’am Edis, with a prestigious humanitarian award in recognition of her selfless service and impactful contributions to society.
The award was conferred during an investiture and award ceremony held at Animeks International School Event Auditorium, along Eket-Oron Road in Eket Local Government Area.
Lady Inyang, a native of Cross River State by birth and Akwa Ibomite by marriage, is a prominent hospitality entrepreneur and director of Boveri Hotel, Eket. She is widely respected for her charitable interventions in the lives of the underprivileged, particularly through support for medical care and social welfare for the poor and needy.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Eket Division, Dr. Christopher Otuinyanhg, praised Lady Inyang’s consistent humanitarian efforts, especially her support for motherless and abandoned babies.
“This honour is to celebrate your unwavering commitment and generous contributions to the Red Cross and the lives it touches. Your dedication to humanitarian causes is exemplary,” Dr. Otuinyanhg said.
In her acceptance speech, Lady Inyang expressed gratitude to God for her journey and thanked the Red Cross for the recognition. She commended the tireless efforts of Red Cross volunteers, describing them as “heroes of humanity.”
> “The journey has not been easy, but God has always been faithful—lifting people from nothing to glory,” she remarked.
She also encouraged current and prospective volunteers to stay focused and embrace the spirit of service to humanity.
Other recipients of the Red Cross humanitarian award included Elder Paul Bassey, Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak, Mrs. Emem A. Ikoiwak, Dr. Chukwu Ukala Raphael, Mr. Dennis Paul Udofot, Prince Ubong F. Akpan, and HRH Obong Dr. Essien Akpanette.
The ceremony underscored the Red Cross Society’s commitment to recognising individuals whose lives reflect compassion, service, and community impact.
