A ghastly motor accident occurred early this morning along Clement Isong Boulevard (popularly known as Ring Road 3), Uyo, leaving two persons critically injured.
The incident, which took place near the Aka Road intersection, involved a Toyota Corolla sedan with a covered plate number (NDN-181-TM) and a commercial motorcycle.
Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the Toyota Corolla was speeding from the Oron Road axis toward Aka Road when the driver lost control and collided with the motorcycle.
The impact of the crash left a young female passenger of the motorcycle with multiple fractures, while the motorcycle rider was flung into a roadside gutter and later found unconscious.
Good Samaritans quickly responded to the emergency, arranging transportation for both victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. The Toyota Corolla was badly damaged, with its airbags fully deployed.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
