Governor Umo Eno has reiterated his administration’s unwavering resolve to complete over 40 impactful projects across Akwa Ibom State without resorting to borrowing.
Speaking during the second Monthly Delivery Meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, Governor Eno charged Commissioners and Delivery Advisors to stay committed to project timelines and specifications.
According to him, the projects span various sectors and are being executed through prudent financial management, cutting down government size, and eliminating waste.
“Let me add here that we are executing these projects without borrowing a kobo from any bank. While we may not foreclose the possibility in the future, I wish to state that through efficient resource management, we’ve freed up funds to undertake these audacious and impactful projects,” he said.
In keeping with his inclusive governance style, the Governor invited select stakeholders to the meeting, describing the session as akin to a situation room where key decisions and progress reports are tabled.
Highlighting ongoing projects such as the Industrial Park, Ewet Luxury Garden, Ibom City Bus, Ikot Ekpene Market, Ibom Hotel in Abuja, the Ibom Sports Academy, ARISE Shopping City, and rebranding of Ibom Paint, the Governor expressed confidence in meeting set targets.
Notable attendees praised the initiative. Senator Ekong Sampson described the meeting as a novel and laudable development, affirming Abuja’s full support for the Governor’s eight-year vision. Ambassador Asam Asam SAN commended the transparency, saying the meeting offered a rare insight into the administration’s direction.
Senator Effiong Bob, echoing his satisfaction, reaffirmed his support, stating that he had no regrets standing as the Governor’s guarantor.
Other dignitaries present included Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Elder Udeme Otong, PDP State Chairman Elder Aniekan Akpan, Secretary to the State Government Prince Enobong Uwah, and Chief Delivery Advisor Mr. Aniefiok Johnson.
Governor Eno concluded by urging all stakeholders to remain committed, assuring that with continued support, “Akwa Ibom is rising and on the right trajectory.”
