SHOOTING STARS’ WOES DEEPEN AFTER KUN KHALIFAT DEFEAT
By Sports Recorder
Shooting Stars Sports Club have gone five consecutive league matches without a win for the first time in three years following their 2-0 defeat to Kun Khalifat FC in Owerri on Sunday.
The Oluyole Warriors suffered their latest setback in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), extending their difficult run as they continue to search for a winning formula.
Before Sunday’s encounter, the Ibadan-based side had lost 1-0 to Warri Wolves and suffered a 4-2 defeat against Enyimba in Aba. They also recorded goalless draws against Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars.
Against Kun Khalifat, Shooting Stars conceded once in each half as the hosts secured all three points with a 2-0 victory.
The result leaves Shooting Stars with just eight points from eight matches, a return that underlines the challenges facing the team in the early stages of the campaign.
With the league approaching Matchday Nine, the Oluyole Warriors will be eager to arrest their declining form, rediscover their confidence and return to winning ways.
The latest result will also increase the pressure on the team to respond positively, particularly given the high expectations of their supporters as Shooting Stars seek to regain consistency in the league.
