EKET, There is renewed excitement in Ikot Ataku community, Okon Eket, following the installation of a brand-new 500KVA transformer facilitated by Senator Ekong Sampson, representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.

The project marks the second 500KVA transformer facilitated by the senator in Okon Eket as part of efforts to improve electricity supply and support economic and social activities in the area. The earlier intervention was recorded at Ikot Akpandem, where electricity lines were also reactivated and extended to neighbouring communities.

Receiving the transformer on behalf of the community, Chairman of Ikot Ataku Village Council, Obong Emmanuel Mbong, and Youth President, Akparawa Ndueso Udoyen, commended Senator Sampson for what they described as his sustained interest in the development of Okon Eket, particularly his interventions in the power sector.

The community leaders also welcomed the announcement that the ICT/CBT Centre constructed by Senator Sampson at St. Francis Secondary School, Ikot Ataku, would soon be fully equipped.

The senator is also facilitating modern sporting facilities for the school as part of his education and youth-development initiatives.

Sampson has maintained a personal connection with the school, having taught students there on his birthday, a tradition he began after his inauguration into the National Assembly.

His interventions have continued to attract commendation from residents of Okon Eket, particularly Ikot Ataku, where he is regarded as an in-law.

The latest electricity project forms part of the senator’s broader constituency development initiatives across Eket and Akwa Ibom South, covering education, infrastructure, healthcare and human capital development.

Earlier in the year, Senator Sampson commissioned Doctors’ Call Rooms constructed at Immanuel Hospital, Eket, to improve the working environment for medical personnel and support healthcare delivery.

He also organised a free medical outreach that provided residents with medical screening, treatment and other healthcare services.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the commencement of construction work at Girls High School, Ikot Ibiok, Eket, where another constituency intervention is expected to improve school infrastructure.

Plans are also being advanced for the installation of solar-powered streetlights in several parts of Eket Local Government Area, further expanding the senator’s ongoing community development interventions.
