Pastor Oluwagbemileke Adeboye, son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has called on churches across the country to place greater emphasis on community impact and social transformation as a pathway to meaningful growth and relevance.
Speaking on the role of the church in nation-building, Pastor Adeboye stressed that churches must move beyond regular worship activities and become active agents of positive change within their host communities.
He noted that the true strength of the church should not only be measured by the size of its congregation, but also by its contributions to improving the lives of the people through humanitarian services, empowerment programmes, education, healthcare support and other community-based initiatives.
According to him, churches that genuinely address the needs of the people will naturally earn the trust, respect and support of society, leading to sustainable growth and deeper influence.
Pastor Adeboye further emphasised that the church has a moral responsibility to help tackle societal challenges by showing compassion, promoting unity and offering hope to the less privileged.
He encouraged Christian leaders to embrace social responsibility as a core part of ministry, adding that impactful churches are those that leave lasting positive footprints in their communities.
The cleric maintained that the future of the church lies not only in preaching, but also in practical demonstrations of love, service and transformation capable of uplifting society.
