By Evangelist Solomon OKPO
October arrives with a special message for every believer: what God has started, He is able to complete. As we enter the tenth month of the year, we are reminded that God is not the author of unfinished works. He begins with purpose, sustains with grace and brings His plans to completion.
The Bible says in Philippians 1:6: “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
This is the confidence of October, God is still working on us, and His work is not finished yet.
Although the Bible does not specifically call October “the month of completeness,” the number ten appears repeatedly in Scripture in contexts of testing, order, responsibility and fulfilment. More importantly, the biblical message is clear: God completes what He purposes.
The Psalmist declared in Psalm 138:8: “The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me.” That is a powerful word for this season. Whatever concerns your life , your family, career, ministry, business, health, dreams and divine assignment, may the Lord perfect it according to His will.
Sometimes, we become discouraged because we can see what has not yet been completed. We look at the calendar and ask, “What have I achieved?” We remember prayers that have not received answers, plans that have been delayed and dreams that appear to be slipping away.
But October teaches us not to judge God’s work by its unfinished appearance.
A building under construction is not a failed building. It is a building in progress.
You may still be under construction, but you are not abandoned.
There are seasons when God allows us to pass through processes that we do not understand. Joseph had a dream, but his journey included the pit, slavery and prison before the palace. David was anointed king, yet he spent years running from Saul before occupying the throne. Moses carried a divine assignment, but he first spent forty years in the wilderness.
Delay did not cancel destiny. The process was part of the preparation.
As we enter October, therefore, let us stop complaining about what is unfinished and begin thanking God for what He is still doing.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time.”
God’s timetable may not always agree with our calendar, but His timing is never without purpose.
OCTOBER IS A MONTH TO COMPLETE, NOT TO QUIT
There are dreams you started at the beginning of the year. There are commitments you made but have not fully pursued. There are books you wanted to read, projects you wanted to complete, relationships you wanted to repair and spiritual disciplines you wanted to strengthen.
October gives us another opportunity to return to the things that matter.
Do not abandon a good assignment simply because it has taken longer than expected.
Paul’s counsel in Galatians 6:9 remains relevant: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
The difference between people who finish and those who abandon their dreams is often not talent. It is perseverance.
Some people stop at the door because they are tired of knocking. Others stop praying because the answer has delayed.
Others abandon their vision because the first attempt failed.
But the God who gave you the assignment can give you the strength to finish it.
GOD FINISHES WHAT HE STARTS
One of the greatest assurances in Scripture is found in Psalm 138:8:
“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me.”
Notice the confidence of the Psalmist. He did not say, “I will perfect everything concerning me.” He recognised that there are things only God can perfect.
There are battles human strength cannot win.
There are doors human connections cannot open.
There are problems money cannot solve.
There are seasons only divine intervention can change.
That is why October should not merely be a month of personal effort; it should also be a month of deeper dependence on God.
Work hard, but trust God.
Plan wisely, but pray.
Use your opportunities, but acknowledge the One who gives them.
COMPLETENESS BEGINS WITH GRATITUDE
As we approach the final quarter of the year, we must learn to count our blessings.
You may not have everything you prayed for, but you have survived things you once thought would destroy you.
You may not be where you wanted to be, but you are not where you used to be.
You may still have unanswered questions, but you also have testimonies.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says: “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Gratitude changes our perspective.
Instead of saying, “Lord, look at what is missing,” we begin to say, “Lord, thank You for what You have already done.”
And when we remember yesterday’s victories, we gain courage to face today’s battles.
YOUR STORY IS NOT OVER
Beloved, if you are reading this in October and you feel that life has not turned out as expected, do not give up.
The chapter may not be complete.
The story may still be unfolding.
The promise may still be developing.
The miracle may still be on its way.
Hebrews 10:36 reminds us: “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”
Do not allow temporary circumstances to make you abandon permanent purposes.
The God who carried you through January will carry you through October, November and December.
And if He chooses to complete certain things before the year ends, give Him all the glory. If some things remain unfinished, continue trusting Him. Completion is ultimately in God’s hands.
AN OCTOBER PRAYER
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for bringing me into another month. Thank You for Your mercy, preservation and faithfulness.
Lord, every good work You have begun in my life, perfect it according to Your will. Complete what needs to be completed.
Restore what needs to be restored. Repair what needs to be repaired and establish what needs to be established.
Give me the wisdom to know what to pursue, the discipline to remain committed, the courage to overcome obstacles and the patience to wait for Your appointed time.
Let unfinished dreams receive divine attention. Let delayed testimonies receive divine intervention. Let my family, career, ministry and purpose experience Your perfect hand.
As I enter this month, let me not finish the year empty. Let me finish stronger, wiser, better and closer to You.
According to Psalm 138:8, Lord, perfect that which concerns me.
In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
OCTOBER DECLARATION
This October, I will not quit.
I will not lose faith.
I will not abandon my God-given assignment.
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.
Every good work God has begun in my life shall receive His divine touch.
My unfinished chapters shall become testimonies.
My faith shall become stronger.
My hope shall be renewed.
And by the grace of God, I shall finish well.
October is my month to trust God for completeness.
SCRIPTURE FOR THE MONTH
