Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, security and economic growth, declaring that Delta remains one of Nigeria’s most peaceful and investment-friendly states.
Oborevwori made the assertion as governors in the South-South region continue to showcase the achievements of their administrations ahead of the final year of their first terms and the build-up to the 2027 general elections.

The governor said the relative peace and stability enjoyed in Delta State have continued to attract investors and businesses seeking opportunities in the state. According to him, deliberate efforts by his administration to maintain security and create an enabling environment for economic activities have enhanced the state’s appeal to investors.
“We have recorded remarkable progress, and I can confidently say that God has been good to us,” Oborevwori stated.

He noted that his administration’s MORE Agenda has delivered critical infrastructure and development projects across the state while maintaining prudent financial management.
According to the governor, every contract awarded by his administration is backed by available funds, a policy he said has enabled the government to honour its obligations to contractors without resorting to excessive borrowing.

“For every contract we award, funds are already available. We have consistently met our obligations to contractors, and we remain committed to responsible governance,” he said.
Oborevwori urged residents of the state to continue supporting his administration as it enters the final phase of its first tenure, stressing that unity remains critical to achieving sustainable development.
“Delta State is our home. We do not have another state. What is important is how we come together to build this state,” he said.

Expressing optimism about the state’s future, the governor said he envisions Delta becoming a model for development and progress in Nigeria.
“I firmly believe that Delta will become the envy of other states in Nigeria. That is my dream, and I believe it is your dream as well. This can only be achieved through unity. It is only with unity that our state can continue to move forward,” he added.

The governor also appealed to political leaders, stakeholders and residents to remain supportive of government initiatives, noting that collective efforts are necessary to overcome challenges and advance development.
“I assure you that I will not disappoint you. By the grace of God, I will continue to do my best and leave behind a legacy that generations will remember,” he said.

Oborevwori emphasized that peace remains a prerequisite for development, noting that the prevailing security and stability in the state have significantly contributed to its development trajectory and growing investment profile.
“Without peace, development cannot thrive. We are grateful to God for blessing our efforts in maintaining peace and security across the state,” he said.

The governor’s remarks echo similar sentiments expressed by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, who has consistently identified peace, unity and inclusive governance as key achievements of his administration under the ARISE Agenda.

Political observers note that both governors have increasingly focused on themes of peace, infrastructure development and economic growth as they seek to consolidate public confidence ahead of the next electoral cycle.

While their governance approaches may differ, both leaders appear united in their belief that lasting development can only flourish in an atmosphere of peace, stability and social cohesion.
