Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has expressed gratitude to God and the people of the state for the peace, progress and cooperation recorded in the last two and a half years, pledging to deepen development efforts in 2026 through what he described as a “People’s Budget of Consolidation and Expansion.”
In his New Year address to Akwa Ibomites on Thursday, January 1, 2026, Governor Eno extended warm New Year greetings to residents and their families, thanking God for His grace, peace and steady progress across the state.
The governor commended the people for their prayers, support and understanding, noting that such collective goodwill has strengthened his administration’s drive toward sustainable growth and inclusive development.
He specifically applauded the Speaker and members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for the speedy approval of the 2026 budget, describing the collaboration between the executive and legislature as a reflection of the people’s mandate for effective governance.
Governor Eno also conveyed New Year wishes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, affirming Akwa Ibom State’s support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He said the state was encouraged by the early gains of the administration’s reforms and expressed confidence that President Tinubu would return in 2027 to complete the reform process.
The governor extended similar goodwill to the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, and other past leaders of the state, thanking them for their contributions to Akwa Ibom’s development.
He further acknowledged stakeholders and youths across the state for their continued support, particularly referencing the recent youth rally which endorsed President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio and himself for re-election in 2027.
Governor Eno also announced that the state’s special New Year Thanksgiving and Covenant Service would hold on Sunday, January 4, 2026, with the theme, “The God of All Flesh.”
He concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to expanding on existing gains and delivering people-focused governance in the year ahead.
