AKWA IBOM: The Oku Ibom Ibibio and Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium, His Eminence, Etenyin (Dr.) Solomon D. Etuk, has commended Governor Umo Eno for his commitment to delivering on campaign promises and for redefining governance in Akwa Ibom State through his ARISE Agenda initiative.
The royal father made the remarks when members of the Amalgamated Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA), Akwa Ibom State chapter, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace ahead of the association’s forthcoming ANPA Week celebration, scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2025, at CEEDAPEC Hotels and Suites, Uyo.
Describing Governor Eno as a “Promise Keeper,” Oku Ibom Ibibio said the ARISE Agenda has inspired self-reliance and productivity among young people, transforming governance from rhetoric to tangible results.
“Governor Eno has made significant progress in empowering our youths and fulfilling his campaign pledges. He is a true leader whose vision has brought renewed hope to our people,” the monarch said.
He also lauded journalists and newspaper publishers for their role in promoting the government’s developmental strides, urging them to continue supporting the ARISE Agenda by publicizing its positive impact across the state.
“Let us protect the Governor’s projects and promote the Arise Agenda, which fosters innovation and self-sufficiency. I believe that when our oil reserves diminish, our palm oil, skills, and hard work will sustain us. Let us safeguard what our government is building,” he advised.
The monarch, who also serves as Grand Patron of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio and a member of the National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria, expressed appreciation to ANPA for naming him “Pillar of the Traditional Institution”, an honour to be officially conferred during the association’s event.
Earlier, Elder Patrick Albert, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), described Oku Ibom as a father figure and a symbol of unity for the Ibibio nation. He said the forthcoming ANPA Week would celebrate leadership, integrity, and commitment to societal development.
Also speaking, Comrade Ernest Akpan, Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Media and Chairman, Board of Trustees of ANPA, thanked the monarch for his constant support for the media and his dedication to traditional responsibilities, describing him as a true patriot.
In his vote of thanks, Comrade Ephraim Ikpe praised the royal father’s humility and leadership, describing him as an exemplary custodian of culture and a strong voice for peace and progress.
The courtesy visit ended with prayers for continued peace, prosperity, and collaboration between the traditional institution, the media, and government.
