The Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. KufreAbasi Edidem, on Tuesday declared open the Green Energy Expo 2025, held at the Akwa Ibom E-Library, Uyo.
In his keynote address, Rt. Hon. Edidem commended the host and co-founder of Energy2Green Innovation Limited, Hon. Idongesit Ituen, for his pioneering efforts in promoting clean and renewable energy solutions aimed at driving sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

The Deputy Speaker revealed that the recent amendment to the 1999 Constitution (as amended) has moved the power sector from the Exclusive Legislative List to the Concurrent List, empowering state assemblies to make laws that advance clean and renewable energy initiatives.
He noted that the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is now strategically positioned to support Governor Umo Eno’s vision of creating a sustainable, innovation-driven economy where citizens have access to affordable and eco-friendly power solutions, transforming the state into a “destination of purpose.”
The opening ceremony attracted notable personalities, including former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem; Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Otobong Bob; and Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong, Honorary Special Assistant to the Governor on Legislative Matters, among other stakeholders and experts in the clean energy sector.
The Green Energy Expo 2025 showcased groundbreaking innovations and discussions on renewable energy technologies, policy frameworks, and investment opportunities to accelerate the state’s transition toward a sustainable energy future.
