By Solomon OKPO

Dr. Odiko Macdon, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of A’ Division, Barracks Road, Uyo, has once again demonstrated that the pursuit of excellence in public service can go hand-in-hand with scholarship.

Widely respected for his record in crime-fighting and peacekeeping in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Macdon has added another feather to his cap by earning a doctoral degree in Public Order and Information Management from the University of Uyo.

His academic journey is as remarkable as his career in policing. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and an LLB from the University of Calabar, before proceeding to obtain both an M.Sc and a PhD in Sociology at the University of Uyo.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to peace and security, especially during his tenure as Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, the Governing Council and Management of the University of Calabar recently honoured him with the prestigious Face of UNICAL @ 50 award during the institution’s golden jubilee celebration.

Colleagues and admirers have described Dr. Macdon as a trailblazer whose resilience, discipline, and commitment to learning are exemplary. His achievement, they say, underscores the fact that true leadership is not only about service but also about continuous self-development.

Dr. Macdon’s story is now serving as an inspiration to many young professionals, encouraging them to balance career responsibilities with the pursuit of knowledge and character-building for greater impact in society.
