President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has applauded 11-year-old Miss Cara Victor Antai for winning Bronze at the prestigious Global Final 2 of the TeenEagle International Competition, held at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom.
Akpabio, who received the youngster in his country home at Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, described her triumph as a testament to the immense potential of Nigerian youths when given proper support.
“I congratulate you, my daughter, on this great feat. It shows that Nigerians, when provided with the right opportunities and encouragement by government agencies, can achieve anything,” Akpabio said.
He further commended Cara’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. Antai, for their role in nurturing her excellence, stressing that the award should inspire even greater commitment to hard work and discipline.
The TeenEagle competition drew over 20,000 participants from 69 countries, beginning with online rounds before climaxing in the Global Final 2 between July 27 and August 3 at the University of Surrey.
Nigeria was proudly represented by eight students—five from NTIC Abuja and three from NTIC Yobe. Competing in the TeenEagle 1 category, Cara showcased brilliance in receptive skills (reading and listening) and productive skills (writing and speaking).
Her global achievements included winning 3rd Place (Bronze) in the TeenEagle 1 Category and receiving a Special Award for “Best in Charisma.”
Akpabio noted that victories like Cara’s reaffirm Nigeria’s place on the global stage and called on stakeholders to invest more in talent discovery and youth development.
