The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the revocation of all land allocations made between May 29, 2023, and August 25, 2025, including those on government-acquired lands.
In a statement released on Monday, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Essien Udom, SAN, said the move is part of the state’s transition to the new digital Geographic Information System (Akwa-GIS) platform.
According to him, the government has suspended all fresh allocations and land transactions for one month, during which the Directorate of Land will be closed. He further disclosed that the revalidation exercise would last two months and would be handled by the GIS office under the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning.
The government emphasized that any land allocation or interest not revalidated within the stipulated period will be declared invalid.
The sweeping directive signals the administration’s push to digitize land records, enhance transparency, and curb irregularities in land administration across the state.
