EFCC Nabs Six in Uyo Over Alleged Internet Scam, Seizes Laptops and Phones

Uyo, Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Uyo Zonal Directorate, have arrested six persons suspected to be involved in internet-related fraud activities during a coordinated operation in the Nwaniba axis of Akwa Ibom State.

According to a statement issued by the Commission, the arrests were carried out at two separate locations—Ekamba Nsukara and Ekpri Nsukara. Four suspects were apprehended at Ekamba Nsukara, while the remaining two were arrested at Ekpri Nsukara.

The sting operation, described by the EFCC as intelligence-driven, also led to the recovery of incriminating digital tools, including eight mobile phones and two laptops, believed to have been used in perpetrating online scams.

Authorities say the suspects are currently undergoing profiling and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to ridding the nation of cybercrime and called on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious online activities.
