Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s South-South region have declared their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adopting him as their sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The decision was among key resolutions contained in a 10-point communiqué issued at the end of the South-South APC Stakeholders’ Meeting held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Benin City, Edo State.
The leaders lauded President Tinubu for his bold reforms and transformative policies aimed at repositioning the country, describing his leadership as visionary and beneficial to the South-South zone. They praised his administration’s support for the region, citing the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President and the signing of the South-South Development Commission Act into law, alongside major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road.
A vote of confidence was passed on Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his role in uniting the region and promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda. The meeting also endorsed the four APC governors from the region — Governor Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Governor Bassey Otu (Cross River), Governor Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), and Governor Monday Okpebholo (Edo), as sole gubernatorial candidates for the 2027 elections in their respective states.
Additionally, the stakeholders welcomed the recent political realignment in Akwa Ibom and Delta States, commending the governors and supporters of those states for embracing the APC’s progressive ideology. They urged the governors and stakeholders of Bayelsa and Rivers States to follow suit and join the APC fold.
The meeting also acknowledged and commended the leadership of Chief Victor Giadom, South-South APC Zonal Chairman, as well as the contributions of federal lawmakers, ministers, political appointees, and especially the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his visible support for President Tinubu.
The communiqué concluded with strong appreciation to party elders, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters across the region, reaffirming the South-South zone’s total alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the APC’s commitment to good governance.
