UYO, Governor Umo Bassey Eno on Wednesday, July 3, 2025, set a renewed tone for accelerated service delivery in Akwa Ibom State as he presided over the July edition of the State Government’s Monthly Delivery Advisory Meeting, calling on all Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and Delivery Advisors to uphold urgency, transparency, and accountability in project execution.
The session, held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, drew wide participation from members of the State Executive Council, senior citizens, political stakeholders, technocrats, and actors across party lines — underscoring its strategic importance to the ARISE Agenda.
In his opening remarks, Governor Eno stated unequivocally that his administration is committed to hitting critical milestones on time and without excuses. “We have numerous projects we are pursuing to develop our State. We have no time, and we must move fast without excuses,” he said. “We are here to work, because the change we seek for our state begins with us.”
He stressed that the Monthly Delivery Meeting is not a ritual but a governance tool to evaluate progress, solve bottlenecks, and ensure the effective execution of priority projects. He thanked senior citizens and key stakeholders for their sustained engagement, describing their presence as proof of shared ownership in the state’s development trajectory.
A key highlight of the meeting was the review of 26 top-priority projects spread across multiple sectors, with presentations delivered by the Ministry of Special Duties, AKICORP, the Ministries of Housing, Tourism, Internal Security, and Health.
Among the major projects reviewed were the Itam Industrial Park, Ibom Convention Centre, Ibom Towers, Ewet Luxury Estate, and Ibom Paints. Updates were also provided on the House of Assembly Complex rehabilitation, AkwaGIS House, and ten critical airport infrastructure projects. In tourism, the ARISE Resort, Ibom Hotels in Uyo, Abuja, and Lagos, and the Aviation Village were spotlighted.
Security and public safety received considerable attention with updates on the Security and Command Centre, Correctional Centre, and the Police Counter-Terrorism Unit base. In the health sector, progress reports were given on the Ibom International Hospital, General Hospitals in Ibiono Ibom and Ukanafun, and the Mother and Child Hospital project.
The Governor also encouraged young Akwa Ibomites to take advantage of the State Procurement Portal, where opportunities abound for contracts and employment linked to ongoing projects.
Reiterating the importance of deadlines and measurable outcomes, Governor Eno declared, “Timelines must be respected. Performance will be tracked, and lapses will not be tolerated. We are committed to service, not stories.”
The Delivery Advisory Meeting will continue over the next few days with further technical briefings, reinforcing the administration’s performance-based, citizen-focused governance ethos.
