Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Aniekan Akpan, and his wife, Deaconess Unyime Akpan, as they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
Speaking as Special Guest during a thanksgiving service at United Evangelical Church (UEC), Ukanfun Local Government Area, the Governor described the couple’s silver jubilee as a significant milestone worthy of deep gratitude and recognition.
“Twenty-five years in marriage is not a small journey. It speaks volumes about mutual respect, resilience, and unwavering commitment,” Governor Eno said. He commended Elder Akpan for his straightforwardness, political integrity, and steadfast loyalty, particularly referencing his unwavering support during the 2023 gubernatorial election.
“My brother, you are a man of uncommon integrity — one whose word can be trusted in a time when politics is often defined by shifting allegiances. Your yes is yes, and your no is no. I’m delighted to celebrate with you today,” the Governor added.
He further praised Elder Akpan’s leadership of the PDP in the state, citing his humility, wisdom, and passion for service. “You have brought sincerity, understanding, and unity to the party. Today, you’ve shown us the power of remembering our roots by bringing this celebration home — to your village and local church.”
The Governor also used the occasion to urge attendees to support the renovation and development of the couple’s home church as a way of honoring their faith and commitment to God.
In his response, Elder Aniekan Akpan expressed deep gratitude to God for sustaining his marriage and life journey, which he described as rising “from grass to grace.” He thanked Governor Eno for gracing the event with his presence and for his consistent support to him and his community.
The thanksgiving service, themed “Thanksgiving to That Same God” based on Psalm 50:14, was delivered by Rev. Ndifreke Amos. He emphasized thanksgiving as both a biblical command and a divine key to sustained favor and promotion.
The occasion drew a cross-section of government functionaries, religious leaders, party faithful, and Christian brethren from across the state.
