Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has restated his unwavering dedication to peace and unity, asserting that the harmony currently enjoyed across political divides in the state is a promise fulfilled.
Speaking during the Easter Evening of Hymns at the International Christian Worship Center, Governor Eno expressed joy over the growing reconciliation among political stakeholders, describing it as a divine mandate he has faithfully discharged.
According to him, his campaign promise to unite Akwa Ibom people, regardless of party lines, has taken root, with visible fruits evident in the state’s peaceful atmosphere.
“My greatest joy is that Akwa Ibom is now united,” the Governor declared. “I have fulfilled the ministry of reconciliation that God laid in my heart for this state. Today, we’ve brought Akwa Ibomites from all walks of life under one roof.”
This unity was visibly demonstrated in the moving hymn renditions by both the PDP State Exco, led by Elder Aniekan Akpan, and the APC Exco, led by Stephen Ntukekpo, alongside APC lawmaker Dr. Patrick Umoh. These performances were symbolic of the bipartisan harmony the Governor has been championing.
Governor Eno emphasized that his administration transcends political affiliations, serving every citizen equally. “I’m not leading PDP. I’m not leading APC. I’m leading Akwa Ibom State,” he said, drawing thunderous applause.
He further encouraged inclusivity, urging citizens to embrace one another as brothers and sisters, stressing that mutual respect and cooperation are vital for sustained development.
Using biblical references, he illustrated the progress made: “I am happy that brothers can now go to their brother’s house and eat together, because we are children of the same ancestry.”
The event also featured a powerful Easter homily by Rev. Dr. Gabriel Nkanang of Word Tabernacle Worldwide, titled “He Arose”, taken from Matthew 28:1–6. He reminded Christians of the power in Christ’s resurrection and the call to live victoriously.
Dignitaries in attendance included Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, Board Members, Security Chiefs, members of the Judiciary, and representatives of various political parties, all united in singing praises to God.
Governor Eno concluded by urging Akwa Ibom people to cherish peace, embrace unity, and focus on building a stronger, more inclusive state.
