Governor Umo Eno Pays Final Tribute to Mother of Lands Commissioner

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Saturday joined family, friends, and sympathizers in paying final respects to Deaconess Edoabasi Edward Ekong, mother of the Commissioner for Lands and Town Planning, Captain Iniobong Ekong (rtd), who was laid to rest at her hometown, Ikot Akpamfuk in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

Delivering his condolence message at the funeral, Governor Eno described the late Deaconess Ekong as a devout Christian, a beacon of virtue, and a moral compass whose values are deeply reflected in her children.

He noted that although her passing is painful, her legacy of integrity, discipline, and godliness remains evident in the life of her son and the entire family. The Governor said his presence at the event was a gesture of love and solidarity with the Ekong family during their time of loss.

Governor Eno also offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased, while assuring the family of his continued support.

In his response, Captain Ekong expressed profound gratitude to God for granting his late mother a long and impactful life. He also appreciated the Governor and his delegation for standing by the family with love and encouragement throughout their period of mourning.
