The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major operational successes in Kaduna State, following intensified efforts to combat violent crime in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM.
In a press briefing held on April 10, 2025, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that a total of 17 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued on April 9 through a coordinated intelligence-led operation by the Kaduna State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The victims, abducted on March 3 from Sarkin Pawa in Niger State, were rescued without any exchange of gunfire, a non-kinetic approach hailed as a testament to the growing success of intelligence-driven policing. Among the rescued were children as young as one year old and several women, all of whom were found in stable health after medical evaluation at the Police Clinic in Kaduna.
In a separate operation on the same day, operatives intercepted a commercial vehicle at Kawo Central Motor Park and uncovered 21 fabricated AK-47 rifles concealed inside. The suspect, Jamilu Suleiman, 27, was arrested and is currently in custody.
He reportedly confessed to being directed by a transport union member to deliver the weapons to an unknown recipient. Investigations into the arms trafficking network are ongoing.
Meanwhile, another swift police response to a distress call thwarted a large-scale armed robbery at Doggi Farm along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway. Police officers engaged approximately 30 armed assailants in a gun battle, during which two robbers were neutralized on the spot. Two more were apprehended, though one later died in hospital. The remaining gang members fled into nearby hills and are currently being pursued.
The Force spokesman reiterated that these achievements underscore the IGP’s strategic direction, which focuses on inter-agency synergy, intelligence-sharing, and proactive engagement to ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
Investigations continue as police intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks and bring all culprits to justice.
