In a bold move to promote unity and infrastructural development, the Executive Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. (Dcns) Glory Ekah Effiong, has officially laid the foundation for an ultramodern two-storey Administrative Block at the council headquarters on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
The foundation-laying event, which attracted community leaders, dignitaries, and residents, marked the beginning of a historic project the first-ever storey building at the Ibeno Council Secretariat. The initiative comes on the heels of Hon. Effiong’s recent recognition with the Effective Leadership Award by the Mkpanak Village Council, in acknowledgment of her impactful leadership and ongoing road infrastructure projects, including the 1.5Km Mkpanak road.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Effiong described the project as more than just bricks and mortar. “This building is not just a structure; it’s to stand as a testament to our shared vision and commitment to progress as a community,” she said. According to her, the facility is designed to serve as a symbol of togetherness and a legacy of unity among the Ibeno people.
The two-storey Administrative Block will house critical offices including those of the Executive Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary of Council, Head of Service, Director of Finance, and Supervisory Councilors. A notable feature of the facility will be the Ibeno Council Hall of Fame, aimed at preserving the legacies of outstanding contributors to the local government’s development.
Equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, the building will function as a hub for administrative duties, public meetings, and cultural events. It is also expected to create employment opportunities for local artisans and craftsmen, contributing to the grassroots economy.
This landmark project aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s Arise Agenda, particularly in areas of infrastructure, inclusive governance, and social development. It reflects a strategic vision to enhance both the physical outlook and socio-political fabric of Ibeno LGA.
