Senator Ekong Sampson of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District is fast earning a reputation as one of the most effective lawmakers in the 10th National Assembly.
A seasoned lawyer, a veteran journalist and former state legislator, Senator Sampson has distinguished himself through a strong legislative presence and grassroots-focused development. Among his key bills is one proposing a Federal University of Technology in Ikot Abasi, which has passed second reading.
He has also pushed for the establishment of a Federal University of Medical Sciences in Eket and a Federal Medical Centre for Akwa Ibom South, in addition to a Solid Minerals Development Fund.
His efforts extend to social policy, most notably, seeking an amendment to the Child Rights Act to address bullying in schools.
On the floor of the Senate, Senator Sampson’s motions reflect both national and regional priorities. He has called for tighter coastal security in Akwa Ibom South, nationwide repairs of federal roads, and jointly sponsored the push for reconstruction of the Calabar-Itu Highway.
With intellect, dedication, and action-driven leadership, Senator Sampson is redefining representation in Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber.
