Fourteen councilors of the Eket Legislative Council paid a courtesy visit to Rt. Hon. (Chief) Nduese Essien, a former member of the House of Representatives and minister of the Federal Republic, on April 2, 2025. Chief Essien, a renowned political leader of the Eket Senatorial District, has served in various key legislative committees, including as Chairman of the South-South Legislative Caucus and committees on Anti-Corruption, Rules, and Ethics.

The visit was aimed at tapping into his wealth of legislative experience. Addressing their host, the Leader of the Eket Legislature, Hon. (Mrs.) Joy Richard Ekanem, expressed their desire to familiarize themselves with the elder statesman and gain insights from his distinguished career.

In response, Chief Essien turned the meeting into an enlightening mini-seminar, sharing valuable lessons from his extensive political journey. The councilors left inspired, enriched with practical knowledge that would guide their legislative responsibilities in Eket.
The visit underscored the importance of mentorship in governance and demonstrated the councilors’ commitment to effective representation and service delivery to their constituents.
