EKET, The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another major success in its ongoing fight against crime with the recovery of an AK-47 rifle in Eket Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives conducted a search operation at an uncompleted building behind Heritage Polytechnic, Ikot Udota, where they discovered the rifle concealed in black cult regalia. The firearm, along with an empty magazine, is suspected to have been hidden by criminal elements, possibly in preparation for illegal activities.
The prompt intervention by the police has thwarted any potential criminal plans, reinforcing the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare. Efforts are now underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for concealing the weapon.
CP Azare has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police, emphasizing that community collaboration is key to keeping Akwa Ibom safe.
