Uyo, In a bid to enhance security and reinforce grassroots collaboration in crime-fighting, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has deepened ties with the state’s traditional institutions.
During a courtesy visit to the President-General of the Akwa Ibom Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers at the palace of His Eminence, Oku Ibom Ibibio, Ntenyin Dr.
Solomon Etuk, CP Azare emphasized the crucial role of traditional rulers in maintaining peace and security in communities. He commended the royal father for his hospitality and reiterated the police command’s commitment to working closely with traditional institutions to ensure a crime-free Akwa Ibom.
The Police Commissioner highlighted the importance of intelligence-sharing and grassroots collaboration, noting that these elements are vital in strengthening security efforts. He assured the traditional rulers that his administration would maintain an open-door policy, welcoming advice and contributions that would aid in securing lives and property.
Responding, His Eminence, Ntenyin Dr. Solomon Etuk, praised CP Azare for his proactive approach to policing since assuming office. He pledged the full support of the traditional rulers across the state and reaffirmed their commitment to fostering peace and stability through continuous cooperation with law enforcement.
The visit underscores CP Azare’s resolve to deepen stakeholder engagement as part of a broader strategy to rid Akwa Ibom of criminal elements and sustain its reputation as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.
