The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has inaugurated a new executive council following a successful election at its 2025 Triennial Delegates Conference held in Uyo on Monday, March 31.
The election, conducted under the supervision of the Comrade Grace Udoma-led Electoral Committee, was widely praised for its transparency and seamless execution. In a remarkable display of unity, all candidates were returned unopposed, signifying strong confidence in their leadership.

Comrade Nsikak Okon emerged as Chairperson, with Comrade Udeme Hosea as Vice Chairperson and Comrade Mary Ekere as Secretary. Other officials elected include Comrade Nsisong Ben (Assistant Secretary), Comrade Vivian Essiet (Treasurer), Comrade Patience Matthew (Financial Secretary), and Comrade Joy Ubani (Auditor).
In her acceptance speech, Comrade Okon expressed profound gratitude to NAWOJ members for their trust and pledged to advance the welfare and professional development of women journalists in Akwa Ibom State.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including NAWOJ Zonal Vice Chairperson for Zone F, Comrade Stella Macaulay; Zonal Ex-Officio member, Comrade Timi Idoko; a member of the NAWOJ Board of Trustees (BOT), Comrade Uduak Ekong, and the Secretary of the NUJ Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Dominic Akpan.
With their inauguration, the new leadership is set to build on past achievements and champion initiatives that will further empower women journalists across the state.
